In May 2010 Jay Sovak graduated from Pima Community College with his Associates in Nursing. Having spent the majority of his adult life in the medical field, Jay has a record of diverse training and sharing that knowledge with his colleagues. Starting as an Emergency Medical Technician for an ambulance company in late 1999, he progressed through the ranks and obtained his Paramedic Certification. Jay laid the foundation for his commitment to medical training by becoming a Field Training Officer, which enabled him to pass on his experience to new employees. His commitment to his coworkers motivated him to serve in their collective bargaining unit as Business Manager. Jay has worked in the emergency rooms of several Tucson area hospitals. During his time as an Emergency Room Paramedic, Jay worked side by side with people who shared his passion for education and patient care; here he was able to continue training the next generation of paramedics and EMTs acting as a mentor for them during their clinical rotations. Jay continues to educate and be educated. Most recently he has become a certified instructor for Crisis Prevention. This certification allows him to train his fellow employees in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the medical organizations for which he works. As part of his desire to diversify his experience, Jay Sovak currently works as a Registered Nurse in emergency rooms, psychiatric facilities, drug rehab facilities, outpatient surgery centers and correctional facilities.
